Shanan Chappell Moots, Ph.D., currently serves as Associate Director for Quantitative Analytics and Research Associate Professor in The Center for Educational Partnerships at Old Dominion University. She has served or is currently serving on nearly $28 million in externally funded educational research projects. Her research experience includes educational policy studies, early childhood projects, middle school math initiatives, STEM studies, military child and family educational issues, and projects focusing on college and career readiness. She has collaborated on projects with faculty at Old Dominion University, Clemson University, Kent State University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Minnesota, and with researchers from the Success for All Foundation, the National School Climate Center, the National Institute for School Leadership, and the National Math and Science Initiative. She has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and technical reports, including publications in the Journal of Education for Students Placed at Risk, Preventing School Failure, Research in Science Education, and Online Learning. Dr. Chappell lives in coastal northeast North Carolina with her husband and their two daughters.
