Haana Deickman, a K-12 educator, has taught in South Korea, inner-city Washington D.C., and rural Georgia.  Dr. Deickman. was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. and is a graduate of the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, where she received her BA’ in 2002 and her Master’s in Education in 2005. Dr. Deickman also attended Howard University in Washington, DC, where she studied Curriculum and Instruction and completed her Doctorate in Education in October of 2022.

 

Dr. Deickman is currently a high school assistant principal in Colorado Springs, where she works for Harrison School District 2. Some of Dr. Deickman’s educational passions are ensuring equitable learning practices for all students and creating culturally responsive learning environments. She is a member of the Harrison School District 2 equity council, where she works to ensure equitable practices for all students. This ties into her dissertation topic, Teacher Perceptions of Culturally Responsive Leaders and the Practice They Employ.

 

Dr. Deickman believes that every student has the right to a quality personalized educational experience that empowers them to be the best version of themselves. It is her goal to build and establish lifelong relationships with students, staff, and community stakeholders. She uses this personal belief to build a positive school culture. Outside of work, her favorite thing is spending time with her husband. Dr. Deickman enjoys traveling with her husband, Jeff, who is retired from the Army. She is also a proud Army mom, as her son is now serving in the Army.
