Erma Carter

Erma Carter serves as the Manager of Student Recruitment for Shelby County Schools in Memphis, TN. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS and her Master of Education in Secondary Education from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.

Erma has over 30 years in public education. She was a Peace Corps volunteer for two years in Sierra Leonne, West Africa where she taught secondary mathematics. She also taught mathematics in inner city Houston, Texas before moving to Memphis, TN to teach high school mathematics. In her current role, Erma works in the Department of Student Affairs as the District’s NCAA Liaison, manager of the Seamless Alignment and Integrated Learning Support Program (SAILS) and she supports the district’s student recruitment efforts.
