Brenda is a tenured Associate Professor in the School of Education at George Fox University. She teaches trauma-informed courses and workshops to undergraduate and graduate students working toward teacher licensure. She also co-directs the Trauma-Informed School Initiative, where she trains teachers and to transform schools to a trauma sensitive model. Brenda is also a Fulbright Scholar. She was awarded a teaching and research Fulbright and taught trauma-informed practices to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Tartu, in Tartu, Estonia.
