Gary Roughton

Gary Roughton earned his EdD from the University of Southern California and has 30 years of experience in California public schools, 24 of those in https://dropoutprevention.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/C.W.-Gardenhire-pic.jpgistration. He has spent 22 years in the Val Verde Unified School District in Perris, CA, where he served as the Director of Student Services. Under his direction, the district earned state recognition as a School Attendance Review Board Model program, reduced chronic absenteeism, and increased district Average Daily Attendance (ADA) to over 96%. He and his team also recouped more than six million dollars in ADA funds during the 2016/2017 school year. Dr. Roughton is past president of the California Association of Pupil Personnel Administrators, a member of the board of the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance, has been a member of the Association of California School Administrators for 25 years, and served in a position of leadership with the Western Riverside County Association.
