Barry C. Smith has been employed with the Fort Worth Independent School District since 2002 and has held positions as a Stay in School Coordinator (Truant Officer), Truancy Court Coordinator and is currently the Assistant Director of the Department of Student Engagement and School Completion. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Arlington, has successfully completed certification with the University of Texas at Arlington in Basic Mediation and in Advanced Family Mediation, has held certifications as a Community Justice Assistance Division (CJAD) Community Supervision Officer and with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a District Parole Officer. Mr. Smith is certified with the National Dropout Prevention Network as a Dropout Prevention Specialist and has been a presenter at multiple National Dropout Prevention Conferences. He has over 25 years of direct experience in the fields of social service, truancy prevention and dropout recovery.
