Ms. Baker earned a B.A. in Special Education and English and a master’s in Community and School Counseling at Eastern Kentucky University. She completed her Level 2 certification in Instructional Leadership at the University of Kentucky and director of Special Education at the University of Louisville. Baker recently completed her Instructional Leadership for School Superintendent and is finishing her Ed.D.at the University of Louisville.
Ms. Baker began her career teaching secondary level special education and English courses. While in the classroom, she was part of many initiatives including co-teaching and SEL curriculum development. She engaged in leadership opportunities early on while serving as an ESS coordinator, high school guidance counselor, 504 coordinator, and an SBDM member. She joined FCPS as a special education facilitator at Lafayette High School and currently serves as the Associate Director of Special Education and Program Director for an Opportunity School, The Stables. As an Associate Director of Special Education, Ms. Baker has supported all school levels, alternative programs, county agencies and oversees the Parent Resource Center. Ms. Baker has had the privilege to supervise and implement training and programs for a wide range of professionals and practitioners. Ms. Baker enjoys training and working in classrooms alongside staff, tackling challenges through team problem-solving, and building innovative approaches to working with students with disabilities. She is also committed to learning from schools and developing strategies to address poverty, academics, student engagement\, post-secondary transition and dropout prevention.
