Dr. Billy J. Walker, II is the Director of the Department of Student Affairs for Shelby County Schools. He has dedicated his life to the education of children for over two decades, launching his career on the frontlines as a teacher.

In his current role, Dr. Walker has masterfully applied his invaluable experience as a leader at the building level to a broad spectrum of initiatives that will effectively engage students throughout Shelby County Schools. The body of work for which he is responsible includes the rollout of new strategies designed to amplify student voice; to cultivate student leadership; to enlist students as active participants in the navigation of their educational paths and to find innovative ways to connect with them to provide invaluable feedback for district leadership.

He is the founding member of the Walker Wise Group and a highly sought-after consultant. Dr. Walker is called upon to share presentations of his proven transformational methods with corporations, businesses and school districts, both nationally and internationally.  Dr. Walker is the recipient of many accolades. Among the many accolades that Dr. Walker has received, he was selected to conduct training for the Florida Martin Luther King, Jr. Institute for Nonviolence and he was also chosen as a national ambassador for the McDonald’s Men of McCafeì.
